Ramazan is here. Dates are available aplenty.
I first tasted this 'snack' in my friend's house. Of course, there was a coating made with sweetened condensed milk.
I have omitted it as my husband is very health conscious.
Why not make a healthy snack incorporating all the dry fruits?
Dates - 1 cup
Cashewnuts - 1/4 cup
Almonds - 1/4 cup
Walnut - 1/4 cup
Pistachio - 1/4 cup
Butter - 1 tsp
Dry roast cashewnuts, almonds, walnuts and pistachio seperately for 1 minute on low flame to make them crisp.
In the same vessel, add the butter.
Once it melts, add the dates and fry till you feel it turns soft / slight mushy.
Cool everything and tip in the cashew, almonds, walnuts and pistachio into a dry mixer.
Pound coarsely.
Next add the dates and run for a minute till all everything mixes up.
Tip into a dry vessel and make balls.
Store in airtight containers.
