Arachu kalakki




I am in awe of our old recipes. How did our grandmothers ,who did not have access to many ingredients, make such great food!

This recipe is probably the easiest curry you can make as it involves no heating / cooking - Just grinding (arakkal) and mixing (kalakkal).

The brined mango / gooseberry is put to good use here.



Ingredients:
Coconut - 1 cup
Green chilli - 3
Salt - very less
Brine gooseberry - 2 (or) Brine mango - 1
Curd - 1 cup
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Red chilli - 2 broken
Curry leaf - 1 sprig
Coconut oil - 1 tbsp


Method:
Wash the gooseberry / mango well and remove seed.
Grind the coconut, green chilli, gooseberry into a fine paste.
Transfer into your serving dish.
Mix in the curd.
Then splutter the mustard, red chilli and curry leaf. Add to the ground dish.
Your curry is ready!
