Maladoo

This is a very easy recipe and a healthy snack for children. My mother makes these for my brother who devours them by the dozen! With 'chota bheem' eating so many ladoos, this recipe will surely be a boon for many mothers!!
It is made with Pottu Kadala, a very type of dal.

Ingredients:
Bengal gram dal / pottu kadala - 1 measure
Sugar powdered - 1 measure
Ghee - as required (surely more than 1 1/2 measures)
Cashew broken - 1/4 measure
Raisin - 1/8 measure
Cardamom / elaichi powdered - 1/8 measure (optional)

Method:
Dry fry the Pottu Kadala till it starts turning colour.
Cool and powder.

Heat 1 tbsp ghee and fry the raisins and cashews in it. Keep aside.

Powder the sugar and add to the dal powder.

Mix the cashew, raisins and cardamom powder together with the sugar and dal powder.

Heat ghee till it liquifies and is warm.

Take a little bit of the powder mixture and pour ghee over it.

The trick is to pour just enough ghee so that the powders hold shape and not too much that they become sloppy.
Now make small balls.
Do the same with the rest of the powder.
