Groundnut chutney

 

No coconut chutney!

Ingredients:

Groundnuts / peanuts - 1/2 cup

Pottukadala / roasted chana dal - 1/2 cup

Dry red chillies - 8-10 numbers

Garlic - 2 large cloves or 4 small cloves

Small onion / Shallots - 8-10

Curry leaf - 2 sprigs

Coriander leaf - 4 tbsp chopped with stem

Tamarind - gooseberry size ball

Salt to taste

Oil - 2 tbsp


Heat oil. Fry garlic and onion for 2 minutes. Then add the ground nuts, kadala and red chillies. Fry till golden. Turn off flame. Add the curry leaf and coriander leaf. Mix well and cool.

Grind with salt and tamarind with required water.


Tempering: 

Oil - 4 tbsp

Mustard seeds

Broken red chillies

Small onion / Shallots - 4 cut into thin rounds

Curry leaf


Heat oil and splutter mustard. Add the red chillies & onions. Once the onions start getting golden, turn off flame and add the curry leaf.


Add to ground chutney.
